The howard persian walnut is a plump and well filled nut with great flavor with a lightly colored kernel. The shell is well sealed and cracks easily. This variety is smaller than most walnut trees and leafs and flowers later in the spring to help escape spring frosts. Self fruitful and productive. Prune for a central leader as necessary allowing for 4-5 large scaffolding branches.
